Handy Man Loses Part of Hand!

**WARNING**
The following post contains graphic images not suitable for those with weak stomachs. Wussies!
While I was at work, Joe and Kevin spent their Sunday afternoon working on construction in the nursery. I received a phone call around 6pm from my sister calming explaining that there had been accident with the circular saw and that Joe was ok but part of his finger had been cut. They were on their way to the ER and would call me asap. She said that Joe couldn't talk to me at that point so I knew that was a bad sign. But Kevin and Steph took great care of him, wrapping his finger and applying pressure, making sure he had a matching shirt to go with his bathing suit on the way out and getting him medical help very quickly.
Turns out he manged to cut off the side of his index finger including some of the bone. There really wasn't anything to suture back on but they ended up suturing some of the necrotic tissue on just to use as protection as it healed. So far the nail hasn't grown back much but it's probably just still in shock! It looks far better today than it did a few weeks ago and it's hardly painful at all per Joe.
So thankfully it was a minor accident and the only lasting effect is a very hearty and healthy fear of power tools.

Got the Shot!

I had to go back this week for a repeat sonogram since they were unable to visualize certain vessels of the heart and the diaphragm the first time we went. This was due to the inexperienced ultrasound technician baby not being in a cooperative position. This time the baby was facing my belly and we got to see a good profile and saw the baby yawning and sucking. So cool! They were able to see everything they needed to and it all looks perfect!

Baby I's profile shot.

And the cute little legs! The tech assured us that this shot is from a high thigh angle so no chance of seeing any naughty bits!

I'm Not Bashful...I'm From Nashville!

I am so late getting this blog out but late is better than never, right? Mid June I went to Nashville for my annual Belmont girls reunion weekend. It's been nine years since we graduated and we have taken at least one trip per year sometimes more depending on if there has been a wedding to attend. Click here to see a post about last years Kentucky Derby trip plus all the group pics from our previous trips.

Here is where we had lunch on Saturday, which was a really unique. It was an old house that they converted into a restaurant. So all the guests sat in different"rooms" of the house. And the best part? Lunch was served with a chocolate covered strawberry on each plate!

Katie, me, Kelly and Linds

Erin and Amanda

I got to spend the day with the Burtner clan when I first arrived. It was so fun to get to spend time with Candice's kids and just have the afternoon to play with them. It was also nice to have a couple of hours to observe a pro Momma at work! This is Grace Alexandria... or as her big sister says "Baby Gace" which I think is pretty catchy.
Max playing the rainReese wanting her picture taken too!Another new one to the bunch, Lindsay's son Soren. This was our first time meeting Soren and I can't believe how much he is a little Lindsay. Just look at those blond curls and big blue eyes! He is such a good baby and was happy to hang out with us boring old people who just sat around and talked and laughed about silly old people things! This picure makes me laugh because I it looks like he thinking of his next meal or something.. "hmmm... Mom I think I will have mashed bananas this afteroon."
We went to a place called "Sips and Strokes" where you spend two hours following an instructor who guides you to paint a generic version of the same painting that everyone else in the class is painting beautiful masterpiece. You can bring along your own favorite cocktail and it makes for a pretty fun evening! Even if you can't partake in the cocktail part!
Getting my color palette ready! Brings back memories of my Belmont art days.
The start of our masterpieces.
My final creation. "Funky Tree".

Stubborn Genes

I am 21 weeks today and we had our rule out anomaly scan this morning. Steph came along to keep us company. I was so excited and had waited for this morning for 11 weeks (since our 10 wks sono)!! But let me tell you... I had forgotten a very important personality trait of this baby's father..... STUBBORNNESS! And if Joe reads this, he will very insistently deny over and over and over again that he is in fact not stubborn. So the baby was head down and facing my spine so we weren't able to see the face at all. We caught glimpses of a chin and upper lip but we all just nodded when she pointed it out but I know nobody could tell what it was! She kept bouncing the transducer on my belly to try to get the baby to move or turn it's head but it was just happy to stay put for 45 minutes! We were all good and didn't look when she did the pelvis and legs so that we didn't accidentally see the gender. We got 2 good hand pics but let me tell you about that cause I am still burning mad....

We left the room and had only been gone 10 seconds when Joe and Steph realized we hadn't been given any pics. Steph said she saw them print out so I ran back to the room and the girl was in the process of throwing them in the trash and said something about how she thought we were already gone. And that she had forgotten to take a picture of the small profile we shot we managed to get. I was so HOT! It's ok that she forgot to take it but she could have made an attempt to find us in the hallway to give us the pics we did get. We were literally 25 steps from the room.
Oh well, I might not have gotten a good glimpse of our baby's face, but everything seems to be healthy!

Talk to the hand, cause you can't see my face!

Half Way!

This week marks the halfway point to meeting Baby Iskow! Which is so crazy for us since it feels like we only found out a few weeks ago. The "OMG we have so much to do" panic has set in a little bit. We will start working on the nursery next month and I have started my brainstorming and research as to what kind of nursery we will be creating. I can almost guarantee you we will not have a pink, blue, green or yellow nursery! Kind of limits my options but I have some ideas brewing!

I am feeling lots of kicks now and the stronger ones I can feel on the outside with my hand but that's only been a few times so far. Joe has yet to be able to feel anything but we know it will happen eventually. We have a sonogram next Thursday but will not be finding out the gender. Everyone thinks we have such strong willpower to not find out but I think it's so far pretty easy. I have no burning desire to find out right now. I am just happy there's a baby in there who seems to be doing well!

Here's my my very first belly pic at 5 weeks when we first found out.

And here's this morning at 20 weeks and still wearing the same pants! I still think it just looks like I ate a big burrito for breakfast. But I will post a pic of my belly later tonight and show you how ridiculous it gets later in the day!
