All things POP

I wanted to share a few of my favorite things (yes, I did pretend I was Julie Andrews for just a second and sang that entire line out loud as I typed it). First, the TV show WipeOut. I will be the first to say that this show is a tremendous waste of money, food, water and foam. But, with the way life is going for most of us right now, having a completely inane, mindless show that makes me laugh so hard is so appreciated. I never want to actually sit down and watch it, but when we flip through the channels, we always end up leaving it on and loving every stupid second. The general idea is to get these crazy outgoing contestants to run through ridiculous obstacle courses where they get covered in goo, water, paint, food, stuffed animals. They fall off gigantic rubber balls, get whacked with giant foam wheels and paddles, and the best part is that they reshow the best falls in slo mo over and over again. They also have this device called "The Motivator" that "gently" encourages timid contestants to move on to the next obstacle. It's really just a giant whack on the ass by a 15 foot swinging arm that no one ever seems to know is coming. Anyway, I love this show and the winner gets 50,000. Are you thinking "ok, Jamie you sound a little crazy and why are you telling us all this about a show you never want to watch but do??" Because I applied to be a contestant!!!! I will never get a call to audition, because let's face it, I am not that interesting. But it was a goal I didn't know I had... apply for a reality show!

Ok next up... Eclipse. Emily, Steph and I went to see it last night. And I did wear my "I heart werewolves" shirt. But I was wearing the wrong shirt. I am now and will forever be Team Edward. And yes, I am turning 30 this year. Shut it. But, my main point here is the soundtrack. The New Moon soundtrack was really good and even though Joe turns his nose up at all things vampire, he did actually like it a lot. And Joe knows music. So it must be good. The Eclipse soundtrack was another big hit. I loved "Let's Get Lost" by Beck & Bat for Lashes. So check out both of those albums for a fangin good time!

An awesome website for you to check out in your spare time...
www.awkwardfamilyphotos.com
One of our favorite websites currently. My mom is going through all of our old family pictures and I am really hoping I can find something worthwhile to contribute to this hilarious site. It will definitely involve my little sister and her "Stephen" haircut. Here's a little nibble of what you could experience should you click on this link.
These are for real pictures that people submitted of their families. The baby on the right was duct taped to the window.
Why don't you just make 10, 11? But this one goes to 11.
Always smile to 11.

Meet Chip. He likes long walks on the beach, hoagies and thrusting his hips.

Camera Woes

Our camera broke in New Orleans, so I have been dependent on Mike and Emily's camera to document the past 4 months. When we went out on Kevin's boat on July 5th, the camera was left on the boat out in Cecil county. Uhhhhh. So now I have no way to get pictures! And Mike and Emily most likey have a melted camera. Big Sucky Bummer for them. Joe taking over blog now....I was looking over Jamie's shoulder and remembered that she can now buy her camera if she can find the one she wants at K-Mart or Sears! Jamie reclaiming her blog... awesome! I will be visiting Kmart tmrw for my new camera! And will be happy to share my Kmart quality camera with my friends who graciously let me use their really nice SLR wicked awesome camera.

Recovery

We spent July 4th recovering from July 3rd. But recovery to us usually means applying the "hair of the dog" theory.

Cosby recovering in her own way. If you don't know this cat, you should. She loves to party and chasing ping pong balls is her favorite pastime. While watching tv at night, we often hear random ping pong balls being chased around the downstairs.
Independence Angel Food Cake Bites

Did you know that if you put a bucket over your friends head and then sit on it, he will be able to breathe underwater and walk around like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean? No?? Well you can. And we did.

Happy July 3rd?!

We love the July 4th holiday! We got to host our 3rd annual Independence Day Pool Partaay on Saturday. It was great weather and perfect for hanging out outside all day. Thanks to all our friends who brought food, extra beer, and came to party all day and all night long! Thanks to a money back rebate due to a broken hot tub from Crunk at the Creek, we even got to enjoy a bushel of FREE crabs!! And the biggest news of the day by far was that Bryan and Holly are pregnant and will be welcoming Baby Dorsey in January! We are so happy for you guys and can't wait to meet your little one... and we can extend our party invite to babies next year!

The goodies! Cupcakes, deviled eggs, pasta salad, veggies, caprese and broccoli salad with hamburgers, turkey burgers and hot dogs.

I wanted a good shot of our backyard since we (and by we, I mean family and friends who earn their pool dues!) have worked really hard over the last 3 summers to get it into shape. We built the lower deck on the right where the ladies are sunbathing and tore up a thousand million little rocks to plant the grass and make the backyard walkable in bare feet.

Let's not forget that it's World Cup time! So we had to provide outdoor TV entertainment in order to keep the guys outside and off the couch. It was really funny because at one point every single guy was jammed onto the lower deck to see the game:) Also, you can see our basketball hoop decorated in honor of our Sugar, Water, Purple kickball team.

In order from left to right: Aaron, Hot Tub, Pete, Steve, Keg, Mark, Mike.

Lindsey, Misty, Anila, Angel, and Hollymom! I always call Holly "Hollybob" when cheering for her at kickball so now I will call her "Hollymom".

The Head and The Scrunchface.

Not sure who is winning here, but at one point I did see a ping pong game occurring with flip flops instead of paddles.

(Sigh)I love this man in the middle. And I now believe him when he told me he took ballet in middle school.

That's right... I have red hair! I forgot to mention that Steph did my hur a few weeks ago and I have been really happy with it! She's gonna give me such amazing free haircolor and cuts for the rest of my life. And my children's children hair. I can't believe I reacted so badly when she first told me about this hair school decision. It's the best thing to ever happen to me besides basil.

Party people still going strong! In fact, Joe and I were the first ones to crash I think.

Steve(Hank) brought some lighted festivities for us to very legally celebrate the USA!

Is it legal to set them off from the roof of your house?! Pretty cool picture though and Steve in the background is enough to make a blogger pee herself a little.
Cheese.

Celebrating the news with Hollymom!

This month....

Can you believe it's almost the end of June already?? I guess that means it's been several weeks since I posted anything, but I am finding it hard to document our recent activities with NO CAMERA! I have always been the picture taker in the group and unfortunately that makes me the annoying one who is always yelling at you to turn and smile, and then tell you to smile better on the next one and try not to make that weird squinty face and can you please tilt your head up to avoid the chin rolls? So not having a camera for the last 2 months has totally sucked. Plus, this blog is a nice way to look back and see what was going on in our life. And according to the lack of pictures, we were very bored. But, here's whats been happening and sorry for the written update, but this is more for me to look back on than for you!

Pool: Opened up the pool the weekend we got back from Crunk. The backyard is good to go, the grass survived the winter and apparently grows successfully with rocks instead of soil. Joe set up the new shed we got for free off of CL (high five Mike). I am very proud of my little basil plant that I nurtured from just a little seed and I hope to eat it with some tomatoes and mozzarella very soon! I planted two topsy turvy tomato plants for the first time, but was very disappointed to learn that I will not be seeing any tomatoes until September. I am a tomato addict and I need my summer fix NOW!

Beach: we went to OC for a few days with family. Joe and Kev were able to come for the weekend and Steph and I stayed till Tuesday. It was a really fun weekend.. thanks Mom and Dad! Mom and I walked 3.5 miles every morning and I completed my 20 miles by the end of June goal super early! On one of our walks, I ran into The Kite Loft to grab a small little cheapo kite to fly just for fun. After sunset is my favorite time on the beach and I thought it would a cool thing to do on the last night. There was a super cute butterfly kite for $16 that I was eyeing up and then Mom found a $50 trick kite that she convinced me I absolutely needed. She said she would split it with me, but I was the only one with any money!!! She must have learned that trick from me as a teenager. Anyway, the kite ended up being super awesome and everyone mastered the loops but Mom. She has many talents, but kitecaptaining is not one of them.

Father's Day: We had both of our families over for lunch today to celebrate our Dads. It's always been easy to host both of our families together for holidays and dinners, which we probably take for granted. It's been 12 years if you can believe it since that first time the Iskows came over to take pics of me and Joe on Prom Night and met my family for the first time. In honor of this special day, we thought we would let our Dads battle it out to fix the bathroom light that stopped working this week and the hot tub which wasn't cycling correctly. All kidding aside, I don't know what we would do without our Dads. They know so much about EVERYTHING in our house, cars, and yards. I couldn't even begin to make a list of all the projects they have graciously helped us with over the years and multiple houses:) Thank you Dads and we were happy to celebrate you today!!

Crunk XII

We went to Deep Creek Lake over Memorial Day Weekend for our biannual Crunk at the Creek trip. We stayed at "The Good Life" this year, a smaller house than normal, but it was a smaller group this time. We had 18 people and our trips usually range from 20-26. We had 3 nights to party, dance, laugh, and do ridiculous things that only happen at Crunk! We had a spaghetti dinner, tacos, and chicken/pork/veggie kabobs. Steve brought a 100 ft slip n'slide that we soaked with water and dish soap. We competed in Beer Olympics, played poker, golf, and watched our video power hour. We always have a theme night and this year was called "Top Secret". Usually we have plenty of time to create awesome outfits and people go ALL out for these themes. But the trip just snuck up on us this year and all of the sudden it was 2 weeks away and we had no theme. So what we did was pull names out of a hat and you were responsible for dressing your selected person. There were no rules, just whatever you wanted to dress them in! Most people included pieces from previous crunk outfits which was easy to put together in a short amount of time and cheap! I always have a better time at the spring trips because we can be outside almost the whole time. And the weather was HOT! Joe and I went swimming in the lake for a little bit before an army of gigantic spiders on the dock attacked the entire group. I have never seen grown adults so scared before in my life. Here are some pics from our weekend! I haven't gotten a new camera, so I was totally dependent on other people for pics, which many of them have not posted to the Crunk account yet. Move it people!!

Lindsey, Misty, Katie, and me on the first night.
Mark, Jim, Dorsey, and Matt.

Jim created some custom made scoreboards for beer olympics and beer pong.

Group shot from theme night!

Steph made Chris a Teenage Mutant Turtle outfit and her cup looked just like her!

Mike in spandex, Misty in sparkes, me in polka dots and fishnets, and Kevin in fiesta wear.

If you are reading this, please take the time to comment on what you think about there being a BEAR in our front yard!!
This is the day after theme night and Matt continued to wear his hat, wig, and carry his leopard print purse ALL DAY! It was pretty awesome until something awesomer happened... he changed into an adult onesie!
This is the view from our deck. It happens to be overlooking exactly where Mike and Emily are getting married in September! The two houses you see are where family and the bridal party will be staying and they are going to get married in the backyard, which you can't see.

We tried to get one nice picture. At first I thought it was a shame that Misty's "Ho fo Sho" cup was in the background, but it wouldn't be Crunk without something like that behind us.

Emily and me on the last night trying to summon the Crunk energy!

I think I needed to borrow some of what Joe was drinking!
