Who Me?

This is Roxie's home when she needs to nap, relax, or get away from her sister Cosby. The clock is to make her think she can still hear her brothers and sisters hearts beating next to her while she's sleeping. Notice the floor to ceiling gate set up since apparently our puppy is half monkey and can scale 3 ft pens in 10.2 seconds to freedom.

Steph made her a cute nametag for the outside of her crate. Fast forward 5 days and it was chewed up and destroyed. But she sure loved it! Who me? I am dirty and stinky and need a bath??

But Mom... I'm scared of going down the stairs!! Don't make me learn how!

After a trip to the vet this week we learned that she 9.4 lbs now and is probably part beagle and part terrier. She really does look like a black and brown Jack Russell terrier doesn't she? There does our dreams of medium size dog... I think we ended up with a small one! But thats ok, we still love her. And according to Joe, he is super excited because terriers are good at obstacle courses like the ones you see dogs running through on tv. $20 I find an obstacle course in the backyard the next weekend I am at work.

Roxie's Home!

I have been out of the blogging world for a few weeks now. We spent the last week in California and just got back on Saturday. I will have lots of posts to come about our trip, but my time has suddenly been cut in half due to a certain little someone we picked up on Sunday afternoon. Meet Roxie (yes, I know I originally spelled it Roxy, but Roxie with a heart over the "i" is just so much cuter). She is 7lbs 15oz, loves sticks, rolling down hills, and can run faster than we ever expected!

Cosby isn't too sure about this little puppy so far. This is a pic of her watching us play outside. I think she is plotting Roxie's demise in a slow and methodical manner. It's been hard because Roxie thinks Cosby is just another one of her sibling puppies to play with. She has no idea what a cat hiss means yet. I am sure she will find out soon, but for now we are trying to keep them apart since Cosby has a good 5 lbs on her.

Roxy

I want to show you what we've been up to this weekend.
Here are some clues!...

1. She's 5lbs.
2. Furry.
3. Adorable
4. 4 Little Paws
5. Lots of Work!

Yup, we are adopting a puppy! She is from a litter of 5 puppies that were found in January with no Mom or Dad to be found. So they aren't exactly sure what type of dog she is. She has the coloring of a German Shepherd and the shelter thinks they have some lab, beagle, and springer in there somewhere! All the puppies look very different, so they even think they are from the same litter but with different Dads. Guess Roxy's Mom got around town:)

We are bringing her home on April 3rd and are very excited but so confused about the potty training process, crate training, and everything else we don't know about. There are so many ways to train your dog. Every website is different and every book has a different method. I guess we will figure it out as we go. Can't wait till April!!

Buzzzz....

This morning I got a phone call at 5am. You'd think that would be nothing but bad news, but when it's a 443 area code number....it's usually great news! Work called me to see if I wanted to stay home today since it wasn't busy, so I said heck yes! I have learned from my past mistakes... the times that I have said no in hopes of saving my day off for a weekend or more opportune time, I get screwed big time. Whether its twins, a crash c/s, or a postpartum hemorrhage, it always happens when I have gotten the phone call and said "no". I think in my sleepy stupor I hesitated about what to do and then said "wait, I'm not supposed to say no"! And what definitely made me say no was the dream I had just had about a patient needing a major blood transfusion. So instead I made myself a busy a little worker bee at home today...

Here's what I accomplished between yesterday and today...
1. Couldn't get back to sleep after my phone call, so got up early and made Joe breakfast before work.
2. I have put off cleaning all the paint spatters all over the stairs and foyer. I was on my hands and knees cleaning before Joe even left for work.
3. Cleaned out the glasses cabinet in the kitchen. Had gotten totally out of control. Somehow cool barware always falls off the table into my big purse when we are out.
4. 4 Loads of laundry, folded and put away.
5. Vaccuumed the family room.
6. Cleaned the bathroom. Down and Up.
7. Cleaned the bedroom.
8. Went to Pier 1 for some potpourri and room spray to make the house smell less like dirty carpet cause know matter how many times I vaccuum, it's still ewwww.
9. Took Cosby to the vet.
10. Got Cosby a new water and food dish as a reward for being so good for her shot.
11. Listed 4 items on CL.
12. Worked out 2x.
13. Made two delicious dinners.
14. Made turkey chili for the rest of the week.
15. Watched 2 episodes of Big Love cause I am wayyy behind. But I don't think the final season is very good so far. Too much politics, not enough wifey drama.

So even though I wasn't at work, I worked really hard! But I got to do it all in my pjs. Which is the best! Hmm.. I guess technically my scrubs are just as comfy as pjs...

Dumps like a Truck

Yowzers! We had such a crazy busy weekend! Friday I had to work and then came home, got ready and went straight to Annapolis for a birthday celebration for Misty at Stan and Joe's. They had the upstairs reserved for the party and we had lots of fun celebrating such a nice, funny, lovely friend!

We woke up and went to the dump. Yes, that's right, we had an early Saturday morning dump run to get rid of the TWO, yes TWO pickup truck loads of junk that we cleared out of the backyard last weekend. Not a single natural element was dumped. It was PVC pipes, old brick pavers, metal fencing etc that had cluttered the back woods. We knocked out a section of the back fence and hauled all the leaves and branches out to the shared community area street for pick up. Big thanks to Mike and Emily for helping us out both weekends. Made the workload less and definitely more fun!

After the dump trip, we took a random afternoon trip into DC. The official goal was to make it to Urban Outfitters in order for Mike to return some things. The unofficial goal was the nearby Biergarten for some delicious German pints of beer! The biergarten was definitely a cool place and we would love to visit again with more friends. There was a party of 30+ people lined up on their picnic tables having the time of their lives at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon! We had some brats and pretzels and cheese with spicy mustard which I apparently love now.

The biggest surprise of the day was getting a call from my Belmont friend, Erin who was in town scoping out places to live when she moves to DC in April. She was just curious if I ever made it to the city and blammo! There I was... in the city! So she hopped on a bus and met us for drinks and tapas at La Toscana. It was seriously the best of all things for me all wrapped into one moment... my Jojo, old friends, even older friends, beer, sangria, and food! Thanks for meeting me there Erin!!

After the day drinking trip to DC, we headed home to shower and get ready for the next gig. The Courtesy Line was playing at the Irish Channel from 10 till close, so we got our band-aid outfits on and went to support them. It was a great show and I wish they could have played longer, but they ran out of cover songs! Demanding, aggressive drunk girls insisted that they play one more song so we got to hear Teenage Dream as an encore. TCL probably hated that, but we loved it!

Then, TGFRSSIMPADL.

"Thank Goodness For Rainy Sundays Spent In My PJS All Day Long"

We watched 127 hours, which was super good. And then I was fast asleep by 8pm!! Hooray!

Looonnnng weekend which is just how I like it!!

Doppleganger

Almost a year ago, my friend Holly brought me a picture she found from one of her magazines. She thought that maybe I had taken up modeling and not mentioned it to anyone. The last time I modeled was in 6th grade and it involved some big poofy bangs, a flowered dress with shoulder pads, and black flats. I will be sure to post that pic as soon as I get it from my parents house. Anyway, I was doing some spring cleaning today and found the magazine page folded and tucked into one of my old purses.....

So what do you think? Do I have a twin or what??

Last Chance Loser!

Here's been the routine lately...

Get dressed to work out. Tie my shoes. Stretch. Head downstairs to the gym.

Stare at the treadmill.

Run back upstairs to check email. Get a drink. Use the bathroom. Check email one more time just in case. Head back downstairs.

Stare at the treadmill some more.

Run back upstairs to check facebook. Check if there's any blog updates. Pet the cat. Put on a load of laundry. Stretch one more time.

Stare at the treadmill with pure hatred and depise. Make "uhhhh" noise.

Turn on the TV and go to OnDemand exercise TV and instead of hating the treadmill, hate Jillian Michaels and her demands to "pump it out" and accusations that it's my own fault for turning on her Last Chance workout and I better "feel the burn" or else she is literally "going to jump through the tv and kick me in the butt herself!"

But it's totally more fun than that stupid treadmill!* And really the point of this post is to share about exercise TV! It's something different every day and you can choose what body part you want to work out and they range from 10-45 mins approx depending on how long you have.

"I want YOU to be healthier Jamie!" "So stop blogging and do a sit up for crap's sake you lazy schlub!"
"You are worth it Jamie, so feel that burn and get off the computer already!"

Ok, I better go.
*The treadmill was a very generous gift from my in-laws several years ago. And I actually love walking/running, but I am in an anti-run phase right now. It will pass. I love my treadmill, just not today!
