We have had the sectional sofa from Su Casa for about 2 weeks now. You know how sometimes you have to get used to a new piece of furniture? It will catch you off guard when you walk into the room until the day comes where you don't even notice it anymore because it just fits? That happened to us almost right away with the sofa. Believe me, we were not sad to part with our little green couch. That Su Casa sectional was a breath of fresh air to our family room. It's more comfortable, it looks better and it has soooo much more room.
The second day we had the couch, I was so nervous to sit on it. Especially with the baby. We don't have a lot of things in our home of significant value, so it has become a very big deal to me that we respect how nice it is and don't let it get to the pathetic state our previous couch got to. Well, wouldn't you know it? I sat down on the couch, nursed Olivia and even though she hasn't spit up for MONTHS she decided that of all times and places that would be the perfect place to spew lunch. And spew it she did. All over the cushion of our brand new gorgeous sectional! After a few seconds of sheer panic and a small but very high pitched scream I got my act together and grabbed the nearest cloth. With one wipe, the spit up came up completely. Which is exactly what the salesperson at Fells Point, Jenny described when she told me about the fabric I chose. She recommended it for kids and pets and I am so glad I listened!
Joe and I are firm believers that it's important to respect the things that we work so hard to get, but that at the end of the day they are just material things. We have a baby now and that changes what it is important to us. Joe's grandfather always used to say his favorite part of having something new was getting the first scratch on it. So yes, I hope that this sofa can stay in the same pristine condition for the next 20 years, but I know it won't. Olivia is surely going to draw on it, throw up on it or take scissors to it. But that's what we have been talking about for weeks... the memories we will make with this sofa and our growing family.
So our couch is officially christened.

Jamie...what a beautiful girl Olivia is!
Kate LOVEs the blog because of the pictures.
how much longer will you be "blogging"?
you have GOT to be the winner!!!!
Olivia gets cuter everytime I see her!!! How is that possible??
Very cute pictures! We used to have spills, spit ups and other manner of messes on our couch when you kids were little ... it was easy to clean up ... but then that is probably the only redeeming value to be found in owning "naugahyde" couch. Fabric technology, it was a wave of the future ...who knew??
Actors often say "never appear live on TV with either children or animals".
Clearly the Su Casa fabric recommended by Jenny is made of sterner stuff!
Glad it came up so well! Now you can all relax and not worry about a silly spill.
This makes me feel much more relaxed seeing as it is possible I have a reputation for being a little clumsy... This sounds like my kind of couch! Looking forward to getting some quality time on that sucker!
Nana is wondering about your comment "growing family" This is a very large couch and I just realized it will accomodate many little "Iskows"
GO SU CASA!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, so I posted an anonymous about my disaster of a couch on pitch for a new couch and you just proved why I don't get a new one. The sad reality of the inevitable happening. I just said to my husband yesterday, I can't hold out any longer, we need a new couch! Then I see how yours was christened and I know why I have kept cleaning my poor couch over the years, I just can't bear so see a new one follow in the footsteps of its predicessor(sp?)! However, your PSA for Su Casa has convinced me to at least browse the possibilities
The couch would only be an Iskow couch with a little baby O spit up on it! Go Su Casa!
Cute, cute, cute pictures. Now that you've got the first little 'spit' out of the way, you can relax and enjoy the couch, knowing that Su Casa has taken everyday family living into account.
